Now Kennedy has to take her mother’s place in the Legion if she wants to uncover the truth and stay alive. Along with new Legion members Priest and Alara, the teens race to find the only weapon that might be able to destroy the demon — battling the deadly spirits he controls every step of the way.
Suspense, romance, and the paranormal meet in this chilling urban fantasy, the first book in a new series from Kami Garcia, bestselling coauthor of the Beautiful Creatures novels.
This was a fun read. I was expecting the story to be a lot creepier. It certainly had some creepy notes to it but the story was more about the adventure than the ghosts. This story is more character driven than not but the scenery had excellent detail. The visual of Hearts of Mercy was horrifying and the conditions that those children had to live in made me cringe. It was great getting to know Kennedy and the rest of the Legion. Priest was my favorite out of all of them. He is just such a sweet kid with a good sense of humor on him despite his circumstances.
I enjoyed this book very much and I am looking forward to reading the next book. On a side note, I am going to have to watch my cats more closely for signs of possession.
